Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose our summer camp?
La Ferme d'André 2.0 is a summer camp that allows kids to be themselves with confidence, develop their skills, stimulate their imagination and live unforgettable moments in a welcoming and safe environment, which emphasizes freedom, autonomy and initiative.
It is a fantastic universe to live adventures, discoveries and experiences in the middle of nature where creative
themed workshops, walks with animals and educational activities intertwine.
It is an enchanting setting where laughter, bonfires, horseback riding and nights under the stars abound!
When should your child arrive?
For the summer camp, your child is expected to arrive on Sunday between 14:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. in order to participate in his first activity at 4:15 p.m.
Does your child need a lot of clothing?
It is important to have enough comfortable clothing for your child's stay according to the weather forecast. A storage space will be assigned to your child upon arrival so that he can store his clothes and personal belongings. Accessible at all times, the space is however limited: 54 inches wide x 14 inches high x 15 14 inches deep. Note that La Ferme d’André 2.0 will not be held responsible for lost items. We invite you to check out the recommended list of personal belongings to bring, found on our website, so you don't forget anything.
Quelle est la liste des objets à apporter au camp?
Are children grouped by age group?
At La Ferme d’André 2.0, children are not divided by age group and do not have a dedicated camp monitor.
They define their own "schedule" according to their interests and passions at the time. Accompanied by qualified,
motivated and dynamic instructors, the children carry out their projects, make discoveries and participate in the
various activities offered.
Who supervises the camp?
Each instructor supervises between six (6) and ten (10) children. Our instructors undergo nearly 60 hours of
training and participate in our onboarding and integration program before the start of the season. Many of them
also receive first aid training to ensure the health and safety of the children.
What is the staff-to-child ratio?
At La Ferme d’André 2.0, each counsellor supervises between six (6) and ten (10) children. Counsellors are always stationed at key areas across the site to safely guide and supervise campers.
What is the maximum number of children at the camp?
La Ferme d’André 2.0 can accommodate a maximum of 70 boarders at one time.
Where does your child sleep?
Your child will sleep in one (1) of the two (2) dormitories located in the stone house, with camp monitors nearby. Your child will also be able to sleep a few nights in La Grange à Tarzan. Camp monitors will accompany your
child to ensure his safety and that of the other children.
Are the boys and girls separated in the dormitories?
There is a dormitory for girls and another one for boys. In the event of a lack of beds, boys and girls could exceptionally be grouped in the same dormitory. The girls' dormitory, located on the second floor of the main house, is equipped with an air conditioner to counter the summer heat and ensure a good night's sleep.
How do I make sure my child sleeps in the same room as his friend?
When allocating beds Sunday night, camp monitors always ensure that your child is placed close to his friends. La Ferme d’André 2.0 makes it a duty to ensure that all children are happy during their stay!
What does your child do in the evening before bed?
Your child follows a comforting routine: he/she sits around the campfire, grabs a snack, sings and plays his
musical instrument, if he wishes. Finally, your child brushes his teeth, puts on his pyjamas and goes to bed
around 9:30 p.m.
How can I help my child to sleep away from home?
It is highly recommended that you discuss this with your child beforehand so that they are ready for family
detachment and can adapt to the evening routine. It is important to assess his level of concern in order to give
him tips and tricks to have confidence in himself and fall asleep in peace. Other children will also be sleeping at
La Ferme d’André 2.0 for the first time. Everyone must be well prepared. Sound advice is published on the
internet to help your family prepare for your child's stay.
What if your child is afraid of being home sick?
You can determine a "I'm thinking of you" moment. You and your child can think of each other when brushing their teeth or at breakfast, for example.
What if your child is reluctant to leave for several days?
If your child seems reluctant to leave for several days, avoid promising to pick him up if he does not like the
camp. He might be tempted to test your promise and may wish to leave at the slightest difficulty, without even
trying to overcome it. It is best to encourage him to finish his stay, and then decide if he will return the following
year. Your child will fit in better if he doesn’t decide to leave before he even arrives at camp. However, if it is in
his best interest to return home, La Ferme d'André 2.0 will make the necessary arrangements with you.
When you arrive at camp, say goodbye to your child and then let him join the group. This is the first step towards
a good integration into the camp. Have confidence, the entire team of La Ferme d'André 2.0 will spare no effort
to ensure that your child has an extraordinary experience and that you can enjoy a well-deserved leave.
Leave with a smile on your face.
What happens if your child wets the bed?
We carry out daily routine control of the beds. It would be advisable to add overnight underwear to your child's
luggage if he suffers from bedwetting. When you arrive, we will make sure to store them carefully, out of sight.
We know that these nocturnal leaks are a sensitive and delicate subject. That's why you can count on our
absolute discretion!
What does your child eat?
Our menu is healthy, balanced and approved by a renowned nutritionist. It may vary slightly each week, but it
will always meet the nutritional criteria. Vegetables, fruits and proteins are present in good proportion at every
meal.
- Pasta, hamburgers, soups, etc.;
- Raw vegetables with dip or salads;
- Appetizing, unsweetened desserts;
- For snacks, fresh fruit and crackers with cheese or a snack that the children will have cooked;
- Cookies, popcorn or other treats, in the evening.
What about food allergies?
La Ferme d’André 2.0 is concerned about the safety of children. This is why careful and vigilant attention is given
to the meals served, in order to meet their specific needs and/or to respect their dietary restrictions such as
allergies and intolerances. Please use the registration form to inform us of any restrictions your child may have,
without omitting anything.
In the event of a reaction, we will use the EpiPen auto-injector prescribed for your child and transport him to the
Hospital of Ormstown, located seven (7) minutes from La Ferme d’André 2.0. Should such a situation occur,
we will notify you as soon as possible.
What about your child's special dietary needs?
If your child is vegetarian, vegan or otherwise, be sure to indicate this on the registration form and remind him
to share it with the staff during meals and snacks. Prevention is better than cure. Note that La Ferme d'André
2.0 has a few foods related to such diets, including tofu, lentils, beans, eggs, etc. It is possible to provide us
with a small grocery list identified with the name of the child if he requires a special diet.
Will my child be able to cool off in case of extreme heat?
Our monitors like to organize water games to refresh and entertain the kids. They are also made aware of the
importance of drinking water and eating fresh fruit regularly during the heat of summer. In addition, they adapt activities during heat waves. Although La Ferme d'André 2.0 has an in-ground pool on its site, swimming will only be permitted in the presence of a qualified lifeguard to ensure the safety of bathers.
In case of rain, what do you do?
The program of activities is adapted according to the whims of Mother Nature. La Grange à Tarzan, La Grange
Théâtre, L’Atelier d’arts and the stable become the meeting places for board games, cinema, culinary art,
dance, music and various shows, etc.
What do camp monitors do when your child is bored?
This situation is rather rare. If this is the case, the management of La Ferme d'André 2.0 will console your child, encourage him and ensure that a camp monitor encourages him to take part in an activity by pairing him with other friends. Please understand that we prefer not to allow contact with the parent so that the child experiences and develops his autonomy and that he integrates well into the group. During his stay, your child will be encouraged to write you letters (please include envelopes and stamps in their luggage) and, in return, we will be happy to hand over your email messages if needed. If boredom persists and your child is unhappy, we will contact you to let you know and determine the best approach to support and secure him.
How can you tell if your child’s stay is doing well?
In the middle of the week, La Ferme d’André 2.0 will publish a series of photographs on its Facebook page to
share the unforgettable moments experienced by our campers. If you are worried about your child's well-being,
leave us a voicemail message or send us an email. Please remember that since all our attention is devoted to
accompanying children throughout the day, there may be a delay in responding to your message, however, we
will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that we do not use Messenger, Facebook, or any
other means of communications.
Your child is in good hands and will take part in multiple activities. We will contact you in the event of any urgent
and/or significant situation.
Is there anything special on Friday at the end of camp?
We ask that parents arrive at the reception desk between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to discuss with our coordinators regarding your child's week, pick up their personal belongings, medication and sign their departure form.
Parents will then be free to circulate on the outdoor site, to admire the kids’ artworks as well as their creations at La Grange Théâtre and to buy a souvenir of La Ferme d'André 2.0 (cash only).
The mini closing show offered by the campers will take place at approximately 4:30 p.m.
All visitors must leave the site by 5 p.m. at the latest.
Tips and tricks for returning home
You will probably be curious to know how your child's stay took place, if he had fun, what were his favorite activities, if he made new friends, if he has anecdotes to tell, etc. Your questions are legitimate, but let your child have a little down time before bombarding him with questions. Let him tell you about his adventures himself. The return from camp is a bit like returning from a trip, it takes a while before returning "to reality".
